I’ve long searched for a speaker that can deliver a a full and effortless performance in my compact dedicated listening room but either they have overwhelmed the room and sound overblown, or they have been too bright to the point of being harsh, or have been a combination of all of the above…
Enter the Kudos X2, I was a little concerned that a speaker at this price might not do justice to my system which consists of Linn LP12 (with Lingo/Kore/Roksan Nima/Ortofon Quintet Black), Linn Ikemi, Linn Akurate Katalyst DSM, and Linn Akurate 2200/1 power amp. I needn’t have worried, they sound superb, full, lively, dynamic and enveloping… oh and they look great too.
PS, I’m curious about the higher end models now!

I have now owned the X2’s for 4 weeks and they have transformed my system. They are sublime driven by Supernait 2 and Linn LP12. They sound so much bigger than they look. Resolution, detail without any harshness even on difficult recordings.
You are aware of the quality of the drivers used and their implementation in the design. The finish is first rate, especially in the Walnut. I have had many speakers over the years and these are definitely my favourites…superb

I allowed the speakers to run in for a while and right now all is sounding quite amazing in my bedroom system. There’s a startling level of clarity and immediacy that I’ve not heard in any speaker since Kans. I’m really impressed, so much so that compared to a previous pair of active floorstanders i’ve owned at much greater cost, the price difference speaks very highly of the X2’s
A total joy and extremely musically involving.

I’ve had these speakers for around 5 years now and they still amaze. Beautiful well balanced sound with amazing clarity. If you need really hefty bass you might want something bigger but I’ve never found them wanting. The compact dimensions means positioning is easier and they don’t take over your room. Without doubt the best speakers I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning.

I bought the X3s to use with a Naim Uniti Star. They are fantastic sounding loudspeakers, very easy to position with good but not overpowering bass and extremely detailed treble. The natural oak finish is really high quality so not only do they sound superb they look great too.
I would happily recommend them.

The X2’s produce a very impressive sound for their size, my lounge is approx. 19×13 so they don’t dominate the room. They sit at the end of a Sondek LP12 and Naim Atom set up. They’re a joy to listen to my only reservation is that the treble can occasionally seem a little harsh but I’ve not heard anything else at the price to beat them.

The X2 speakers are wonderful for a compact listening room. These are in a small room and are sited approximately 2 metres from the listening position, 2 metres apart and just 15 cms from the wall. Their size means they don’t overwhelm the room in physical presence or importantly in sound stage, a concern was booming base and harsh treble when needing to sit relatively close in, however the X2’s deliver a tight base and relatively clean treble (if ever a mark 2 is created perhaps this is the one area to look at, but this is picking flies) and they just sound nicely musical with a Rega system. Then there is the design and finish – the shaped plinth and clean lines looks classy and the veneers are beautifully finished and matched (in fact mirrored) across the pair of speakers. And although the covers are rarely in place, the magnetic fixings work well and are nicely designed so there are no holes needed in the front facia to hold them in place.
Therefore, the X2’s are highly are recommended and should be on the short list for a small listening space. Very pleased with Kudos and the next step will be a pair of S20a’s when budget allows!
